The Wylie Street Project called for renovating and upgrading a modest four-square mid-west home located in Bloomington, Indiana. The three-phase program focused on: 1.) renovating and upgrading the kitchen; 2.) bedding an attractive street-view garden; and 3.) proposing plans to upgrade the upstairs bathroom and add a half-bath and coatroom on the first floor.

WYLIE STREET KITCHEN RENOVATION
The kitchen renovation merges with the house’s character by refurbishing the original cabinet structure and suggesting traditional millwork detailing. Additional cabinets and shelving were added to accommodate the dimensional requirements of new appliances, which, when combined with open shelving and updated LED track lighting, offer a contemporary feel which still respects the original 20th century aesthetic.

WYLIE “STREET-VIEW” GARDEN
The street-view garden offers a mini-landscape which frames the entry to the house with a mix of native plants and grasses. The garden serves as a way-station for Monarch butterflies and a gathering place for the local bee population.
